Dear Board Members, It is with deep regret, and tremendous burden that I am carrying on my conscience, that I would like to bring the following facts to your notice…. Wrote Satyam Computer Services’ Chairman Ramalinga Raju. He penned his resignation letter and walked out of the company he had given birth to, nurtured and then finally raped. But he left me feeling very, very embarrassed. I have no connections with Satyam, except for a distant cousin who used to work there and a few shares I had bought. Still the scam left me feeling deeply embarrassed because an American friend, who works for global IT giant Accenture, found it the right moment to call me up and discuss "India’s Enron." “The Indian IT dream is going bust,” was his opening line, gleeful and sadistic. Even you had Enron. “But Satyam was heading the Indian gold rush. It was your pride. Enron was just another company,” he said. Every economy has its black holes. And there are many other biggies like Infosys, Wipro, TCS. “But the biggest one is gone bust, pilfered by the man who created it. A dream killed by the dreamer. A shame. Satyam is not just one company. It was India IT Inc.” I fought him for a long time but felt a little cheated. Anything else would have been acceptable. But why the IT giant and why by its owner?
