I didn’t particularly like Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan’s debut chicklit novel You Are Here. I don’t exactly believe in floating through life on an unending boyfriend-hunting spree. But I like its bold vocab, words that we girls generally reserve for those hush-hush pajama party nights. My fav line: “The trouble with my life is that it’s like a bra strap when you put your bra on wrong . . .” (Men can never read beyond this.)...

It was another of those Saturday evening dinner parties of HMMCs (for the uninitiated, this means Happily Married Metro Couples). There was moderate booze, a lot of food, snacks for kids and talk about the ‘bad week’ everyone seemed to have had.

The conversation started with a ‘hot PA the MNC husband had recently hired’ and then veered to the economic meltdown “Things are bad, really bad,” said the govt servant. The MNC wife protested, but mildly, “It’s worse for those working in the private sector. We might lose our jobs.” The govt servant assured, “Only trainees are being chucked. And anyway, not all companies are Jet.”...

My sources say Abhishek Bachchan will walk the ramp for designer Gaurav Gupta in his Drona avatar as the young designer had created the film’s costumes. Gaurav shows at the Emporio at 5 pm on Friday.

It’s that time of the year again when controversies will rub shoulders with couture (though technically, it’s prêt but in Delhi’s fashion-illiterate muah-muah crowd who cares?).

With the debutant Delhi Fashion Week (DFW) having started with a “dusky” launch at Emporio yesterday, the loudest buzz is about the South African brigade that is planning a coup of sorts. With hardly any Indian choreographer in its team, the Emporio catwalks are being crafted by South African choreographers and their chosen South African models — both black and white....
