There has been a lot of talk about the challenge of conquering New Zealand conditions but cricket-wise, Mahendra Singh Dhoni should welcome the favourites tag. If India is the superior of both teams, there is no harm in admitting it.
Allan Border made the mistake of shrugging off the favourites tag during the 1991-92 World Cup and he paid for it. Before the opening match against New Zealand in Auckland, the tough Australian kept on harping on the fact that New Zealand were hard to beat on their home turf. And boom.... that's what happened. Australia lost after a blinder of an innings by Kiwi captain Martin Crowe.

I can understand if people felt sick after watching the Indian Premier League auction.
As much as it is good for the players to be earning such ridiculous sums of money, one could not help feel for the countless people who have lost their jobs in the economic meltdown. Probably, some owners of those same cricket teams may have rendered several jobless in their respective firms. But for cricket, there is money. Loads.

WHILE Australian cricket supporters can’t stop mourning about the drop in performance, Australia’s ill health can only be good for the game.
It’s great to see the emergence of South Africa and India as the new super powers – never mind the rankings because Australia will be back in top position with a good performance against New Zealand.
In reality, Australia shouldn’t be rated above South Africa and India in the first place considering how terribly they have performed this season.

ONE can understand Virender Sehwag speaking his mind over Greg Chappell’s coaching approach. He is in the form of his life and anything he says now will have more merit than when the chips are down for the Delhi basher.
Sehwag said that whatever was discussed in a coach-player conversation was immediately disclosed to the selectors and media which obviously made it a very uncomfortable relationship....
