The Australians are experts when it comes to winning in a war of words. Matthew Hayden surely knows what he is talking about when he said he will be a target on his tour of India. What he probably means to say is, 'C'mon Bhajji, I coming to do battle with you. Wanna fight?'

I hope Harbhajan Singh restricts his reaction to his acts on the field and not get carried away and indulge in tall talk. He's already been quoted as saying that the Indian batsmen are in for some fun times considering the inexperienced Aussie spin attack....

IT is good to see the Indian Cricket League gaining ground in its second season. And there are interesting times ahead. Things won't be the same in Indian cricket with a new BCCI president coming in.  Dealing with the ICL issue would be one of Shashank Manohar's biggest challenges.

 

So far, the BCCI and its state units have taken the dictatorial approach and there is an end to dadagiri just like there is an end to dictators....

AUSTRALIAN coaches ensure they are in the news on the Asian sporting scene.

First it was Greg Chappell and his tumultuous tenure as India coach. Chappell tried to ring in changes, but failed. His supporters felt he did not have the right kind of backing from the BCCI and the players were unwilling to be shaken off from their comfort zone.

RAMEEZ Raja's plea to his former captain Imran Khan to leave politics and rule their country's cricket affairs is an interesting one. Whether the charismatic leader would do so or even consider it, is to be seen. For, Imran has greater challenges at hand.

But yes, what Pakistan cricket needs today is strong leadership. There are too many grey areas and even the current regime's best decisions which look good on the surface are accepted with lot more than a pinch of salt....
