THERE will be no shortage of positive energy with Krishnamachari Srikkanth coming in as the new chairman of selectors. So in that sense, the choice is a good one. Dilip Vengsarkar was thwarted by a clause in the BCCI constitution that bars selectors from wearing two hats in the working of Indian cricket. Since Vengsarkar is an office bearer of the Mumbai Cricket Association, he couldn’t continue as selector. ...

THE visiting Australians would be having a nice laugh at the way our country’s cricketing fraternity has gone about reacting to them being at the receiving end of some professionalism dished out by the Rajasthan Cricket Association. The gripe is understandable, but there are certain things which you don’t come out and say in the open when your opposition is just next door.

The visitors would also be amused of a selection committee being formed barely ten days before the start of the first Test. Everything about Indian cricket administration is not wrong, but it’s weird to have a different set of selectors to pick the squad for the Test trial (Irani Trophy) and a different one to pick the team for the first Test....

WHEN I was a younger man, I used to get very excited to see photographs of the interiors of cricket establishments. Not that action photographs of Test matches game me less of a thrill, but off-field images had a certain magic attached to them.

As journalists, we are a fortunate lot. We get to see what the public cannot come near to.

Keeping the fans’ interests or probable interest should I say, in mind, I set out to do a story on the Board of Control for Cricket in India office which will host the Annual General Meeting of the Board over the weekend....

Having your former coach in the enemy camp does not give one a good feeling. And that's what some of India's star cricketers may be experiencing after seeing footage of Greg Chappell with the Australian team in Jaipur.

It is a smart move by the Australian cricket board to get Chappell involved for a series which they probably believe they could lose.
