Well not exactly a million but the BMC is planning to import bomb-proof dustbins, each costing Rs 72,000! Delhi is eyeing see-through bins for waste disposal and am sure they too won't come cheap.

The money could be spent on more interesting objects:

Budget: Rs 72,000

Allocation: IBM laptop Rs 50,000

Mont Blanc pen: Rs 20,000

Dining at La Piazza restuarant at Hyatt Regency (serves the best Italian in town): Rs 2,000 (Don't I need to celebrate the new laptop and the pen?)...

Gossip is fresh breath energy for many among the human race, the daily dose of lethal drug concoction without which the addicts wouldn't be able to function humanely. It is what fuels the imagination of the country, that one author had once very disparagingly described as a nation of gossipmongers! But then what would life be without gossip? How would we survive without knowing what the lazy Sharma aunty has served for breakfast (bread-margarine again?); with whom the airhostess bimbette downstairs walked in last night; how many empty wine bottles and condom packets were thrown out by the pretty BPO flat mates next door? ...
